Behind the photographs.

I’m Yi He, and this is my personal photography collection.

I’m drawn to nature as it is: its forms and textures, its changes, and the small details that give each place its character. More than dazzling light or a spectacular view, I want to capture something of what makes a place feel alive.

I’m just as interested in the individuals who share this world, each with their own stories and their own charm. A gesture, an expression, or a moment of connection can reveal something that is easy to miss from a distance. I hope to make photographs that give those details room to be seen, and preserve something of what makes each individual unique.

For me, photography is a way to slow down and pay attention. Looking through a camera encourages me to spend more time with what is in front of me, to notice its details, and to stay curious about what I don’t yet understand. A photograph can only hold a small part of a place or a life, but that small part can still mean something.

IN PASSING is where I bring these observations together. It is an ongoing collection of encounters and things that stay with me. I hope you find something here that makes you pause, look a little closer, or see a familiar part of the world differently.

Away from the camera, I’m a PhD student.
